Russian Silk Embroidered in Gold and Silver Leather Barrette.
Size is 3.5 x 1.8 inches.
Made by the famous Torzhokskie zolotoshvei enterprise.
The artistic industry called embroidery in gold - one of the many types of Russian embroidery that was widely developed in the 18th century - has existed in Torzhok since the 13th century.
The embroidery in gold, done on leather, suede, velvet, silk, wool, in gilded and silver threads, was used for lavish decoration of clothes, objects of interior design and cult thing. Russian traditional motives are used in the composition of the embroidery : geometrical and plant decorations, fugures of animals, birds, and fantastic creatures.
