Russian icons - Icon of Vladimir St. Virgin histor |
According belief, St. Virgin of Vladimir Icon was painted by Lucas evangelist. At XII century it was sent from Constantinople toKiev as a gift to Yuri Dolgorukiy knight of Russia. His son, Andrei Bogolubskiy have moved icon to Vladimir and placed it at Uspensky Cafedral. This icon saved Russians from Mongol invaders triple: Icon of Vladimir city St. Virgin was named as savior of Russian state. |
