St. Nicolas from Mirlikines, according legend, lived at the end of III - beginning of IV century a.d. He was archibishop of Mira town (Rome province, Likia). At Russia He is respected as savior of seamen, savior from illness and for His help in everyday business. According legend, during Kulikovskaya battle with Mongols Image of St. Nicolas appeared for knight Dmitry Donskoy, who was head of Russian army, and that helped to win the battle. |
