St. Sergiy from Radonezh |
St. Sergiy from Radonezh (Batholomew Kirillovich) was born 1314 After 1342 he founded Troize-Sergiev monastery. After 1374 he have became spiritual teacher of many of Moscow princes. Among them, Dimitry Donskoy and all of His sons was influenced by St. Sergiy from Radonezh. At 1380 He helped a lot with attempts of Dimitry Donskoy to unite Russia around Moscow and to prepare the battle against Mongols. After 1380 Sergiy from Radonezh and His followers was founders of dozens of Russian monasteries. He buried at Troize-Sergiev Lavra near Moscow, canonized at 1452 by Orthodox church. |
