Authentic Russian Finift Pendant HOLY MOTHER.
Hand - made and hand - painted by the famous Rostov Finift masters.

The item is 1.1 x 0.9 inches in diameter.
Prayer engraved inside of the pendant (in Russian) says "Keep and Save" Enamel is a type of glass imbued with paint.
Enamel, from the Latin *smaltum*, a synonym of finift.
Finift, from the Greek translated as a *shining stone*.
Enamel is one of the oldest forms of decorating metal. The process was known in Ancient Egypt and througt Byzantium it was transmitted to Russia. The technique of enamel was known to have been employed in Kievan Rus way back in the 11th century.
